Dwight Steward, Ph.D. is an economist and statistician, and principal of EmployStats. Dr. Steward has performed research on a range of topics since 1997. He often works on high profile projects, and regularly speaks, writes and teaches about the economic and statistical methodologies employed in his research. He conducts research for attorneys, businesses and governmental agencies on a wide range of topics. Dr. Dwight Steward is knowledgeable about various topics, including FLSA and wage and hour violations, individual earnings losses, and employment discrimination.

Dr. Dwight Steward has penned expert reports and testified on related issues in Federal and State cases across the country. He has also provided research in internal wage and hour audits, work place investigations, and damage exposure analyses to businesses and government agencies operating in a variety of industries.

Dr. Dwight Steward also regularly writes and speaks on business and individual economic damages, employment audits, and the analysis of payroll and time data in wage and hour investigations.

Dr. Dwight Steward has held teaching positions at The University of Texas-Austin in the Department of Economics and The Red McCombs School of Business, The College of Business at Sam Houston State University, and The University of Iowa. Highlights

Dr. Dwight Steward performed a detailed study of the economics of pharmaceutical drug pricing in the Texas Medicaid system in the case State of Texas v. Par Pharmaceutical et al. Dr. Steward provided testimony during trial regarding commercial damages, drug pricing, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Dwight Steward testified during this trial on off-the-clock and meal period violations based on his analysis of class member surveys, time punch records, and pay data in Otsuka v. Polo. His research and testimony was crucial to the case at multiple stages, including class certification.

Dr. Dwight Steward analyzed business profit losses resulting from alleged broker misrepresentations during a Taco Bell e-Coli breakout. He testified at trial on the insurance company’s past and future profit losses in Llyods of London et al. v. IMAK et al.

Dr. Dwight Steward and his team have consistently studied U.S. job market dynamics since 2004. They assemble, analyze and maintain numerous data sources on issues related to employer demand, and the number of job candidates in a given market and job search time.

Dr. Dwight Steward developed person-specific U.S. work life expectancies for undocumented Mexican and Central American migrant workers. The research includes the analysis of data from the innovative University of Pennsylvania migrant worker study.

Dr. Dwight Steward helped Texas police agencies develop a statewide police stop and search record collection database. He worked closely with the Texas State Legislature, community groups and stakeholders during this multi-year project.
